Sansaar Care provided a targeted charitable donation of £4,000 to Islamic Help, a UK-registered international humanitarian charity, to support a child-focused emergency food response for Sudanese refugee families with children in Cairo, Egypt.

The donation funded the distribution of emergency food packs designed to meet the nutritional needs of households caring for children, helping to stabilise family units and protect children from hunger during displacement.

Identified Need and Context

The conflict in Sudan, which escalated in April 2023, has created one of the world’s largest displacement crises. Hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees have fled to Egypt, many arriving in Cairo after traumatic journeys with little or no resources.

Children within refugee families face heightened risks, including:

  • Food insecurity and malnutrition
  • Interrupted development and wellbeing
  • Psychological distress linked to displacement and instability

Sansaar Care identified an urgent need to support life-sustaining assistance targeted at refugee families with children, where access to basic nutrition was critical to preventing harm to children’s health and development.

Beneficiaries and Public Benefit

Sansaar Care’s donation directly supported 133 Sudanese refugee families, equating to approximately 665 children and adults, based on an average family size of five.
Children were the primary intended beneficiaries, as food insecurity within refugee households disproportionately affects children’s health, growth, and wellbeing.

Public benefit was delivered through:

  • Protection of children from hunger and nutritional deprivation
  • Increased household stability centred on children’s basic needs
  • Reduced immediate risk to children living in displacement conditions

Support Delivered

Islamic Help used Sansaar Care’s £4,000 donation to provide:

  • 133 emergency food packs, each costing £30
  • Each pack designed to support a family’s essential food needs for approximately one month

Food packs included staple items such as rice, pasta, flour, lentils, vegetables, cooking oil, sugar, tea, and dates — chosen to support nutritional needs relevant to children and families.

Distribution took place on 16 October 2025 in Cairo, Egypt, with priority given to the most vulnerable refugee families with children.

Outcomes and Impact

The child-focused outcomes of this intervention included:

  • Immediate alleviation of hunger affecting children in refugee households
  • Improved short-term nutritional security for children
  • Reduced financial pressure on families, enabling caregivers to redirect limited resources toward children’s other essential needs such as healthcare and education

The intervention also provided psychological reassurance to children and families by restoring a degree of stability during a period of extreme uncertainty

Risk, Safeguarding, and Governance Considerations

Islamic Help managed delivery through experienced local teams, applying safeguarding and dignity-based distribution practices appropriate for refugee and child-affected populations.

Sansaar Care’s governance role focused on:

  • Ensuring funds were used for clear child-benefit purposes
  • Retaining written confirmation of delivery and impact
  • Managing risk through partnership with an established humanitarian organisation

Safeguarding responsibility for direct delivery rests with the implementing charity.

Learning and Future Application

This case study demonstrates Sansaar Care’s:
