Emergency Flood Relief for Children
Sansaar Care provided a targeted financial donation (£4,000) to Hope for Mankind, a UK-registered humanitarian charity, to support children and child-led households affected by the Pakistan Floods Appeal 2025.
The donation was specifically intended to contribute to child-focused emergency relief, including access to food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and safe temporary shelter for children and their immediate caregivers in flood-affected communities. Aid delivery commenced within 48–72 hours of funds being received.
Identified Need and Context
Severe flooding in Pakistan during 2025 resulted in widespread displacement, destruction of homes, and disruption to essential services. Children were disproportionately affected due to:
- Increased risk of hunger and malnutrition
- Exposure to unsafe water and sanitation conditions
- Loss of shelter and safe living environments
- Heightened vulnerability to illness and exploitation
Sansaar Care identified an urgent need to support child-focused humanitarian intervention to protect children’s health, safety, and dignity during the acute phase of the crisis.
Beneficiaries and Public Benefit
The primary beneficiaries of this charitable activity were children living in flood-affected households, particularly:
- Children in displaced or temporary accommodation
- Children lacking access to safe drinking water and adequate nutrition
- Children exposed to heightened health and safeguarding risks
Public benefit was delivered through life-saving assistance aimed at reducing immediate harm to children, stabilising family units around children’s needs, and supporting child survival during a humanitarian emergency.
Support Delivered
Sansaar Care’s donation contributed to emergency aid activities that prioritised households with children, including:
- Distribution of emergency food supplies sufficient to meet children’s nutritional needs
- Provision of clean drinking water to reduce waterborne illness affecting children
- Hygiene kits designed to protect children’s health and dignity
- Short-term shelter support to provide children with safer living conditions
Hope for Mankind’s local teams prioritised families with children when allocating aid, ensuring the most vulnerable young beneficiaries were reached first.
Outcomes and Impact
The immediate outcomes of this child-focused intervention included:
- Improved food security for children in affected households
- Reduced risk of illness linked to unsafe water and poor sanitation
- Increased short-term safety and stability for children displaced by flooding
While long-term recovery requires sustained support, this intervention contributed directly to protecting children during a period of acute humanitarian risk.
Risk, Safeguarding, and Governance Considerations
Hope for Mankind has established safeguarding and operational controls for humanitarian delivery in high-risk environments. By working through an experienced partner:
- Safeguarding risks to children were managed through local delivery protocols
- Aid was delivered through established community networks prioritising child welfare
- Sansaar Care ensured its funds were used exclusively for charitable, child-benefit purposes
Governance assurance was provided through written confirmation of donation use and delivery context.
Learning and Future Application
This case study reinforces Sansaar Care’s approach to:
- Targeting emergency aid specifically to children in crisis situations
- Supporting partners with the capacity to prioritise child protection and welfare
- Acting quickly to mitigate immediate risks to children during humanitarian emergencies
Learning from this response will inform Sansaar Care’s future emergency interventions and child-focused grant-making decisions.
